What are Snapchat story highlights?

A normal Snapchat story disappears after about 24 hours. Creators with a public profile can keep their best stories by saving them as highlights. Snapchat used to call these "Saved Stories". Highlights appear on the public profile and stay there until the creator removes them, so they work as a permanent showcase: product tutorials, tour diaries, behind-the-scenes clips, Q&A sessions and favourite moments.

Because highlights can include months or even years of content, there can be a lot of it. Some well-known creators have hundreds of highlight snaps. Scrolling through them in the app is slow, and you can't save them. How to save highlights in bulk

When a profile has many highlight snaps, use the Download all button at the top of the section. Your browser downloads the snaps one after another and packs them into a ZIP file, so you don't have to click every item. For very large collections, the ZIP is split into numbered parts (part 1, part 2 and so on) so your phone or computer doesn't run out of memory. Keep the page open until the progress counter finishes.

Why highlights might be missing

• The account has no public profile. Only public profiles can publish highlights to the web.
• The creator hasn't saved any highlights. Plenty of creators only post temporary stories and Spotlight.
• Highlights were removed or hidden. Creators can delete highlights at any time, and they disappear from our results too.
• Temporary limits. If Snapchat isn't responding, wait a few minutes and try again.

A note on fair use

Highlights are curated by the creator and represent their work. Use the viewer to watch, learn and keep personal copies, but ask before re-uploading anything and always credit the original account. Watching highlights on a slow connection

Highlight reels can be long, so the viewer is built to stay light. We show the first batch of snaps right away and load the rest only when you tap Show more. Videos don't start downloading until you press play, which saves mobile data. If you are on a limited data plan, preview the snaps first and download only the ones you really want, instead of the whole ZIP. On Wi-Fi, Download all is the quickest way to keep a complete copy of a creator's highlights for a long flight or a trip without signal.
